Sustainability at Stecker Express
We are striving for ever better and more responsible solutions in the future that meaningfully combine ecological, social and economic goals and values while taking the wishes and requirements of our customers into account in the best possible way.
In order to bring the subject of environmental and climate protection to a strategic level, we have initiated and intensified various measures together with the "KLIMAfit" project, a programme of the Baden- Ministry of Environment, Climate Protection and Energy Sector.
Some of the following points arose from ideas within the framework of the project. Many others have already been part of our ecological and social responsibility for a long time.

Products & supply chain
Long-lived, sustainable and Made in the EU
Most of the products we process come from Germany or neighbouring EU countries and thus promote local jobs and short distances. We guarantee maximum quality: Only selected manufacturers that support our values of high-quality and long-lived products make it into our assortment. In this way we create a high level of customer satisfaction and ensure a long life for our products. In addition, we cater to the individual needs of our customers. We offer our customers just the right product in just the right quantity – this prevents unnecessary surpluses. We even got a step further: Our mission is to offer all our products as set items. In this way we are able to offer our customers prefabricated combination options and prevent incorrect purchases of goods and over-buying. We operate Chain Management in our logistics centre at the highest level. The stock is constantly being adjusted to the current market requirements. This means there are no surplus quantities that have to be disposed of if products or regulations change.

Our measures
Energy:
Online shop, warehouse and logistics, administration - it all needs lots of energy. The good news: We are on it. By the end of 2023 we want to move completely to green electricity and by the end of 2024 most of our electricity consumption will come from our own photovoltaic systems.
We have already achieved this goal for our online shop. Every server is powered with energy from 100% carbon dioxide-free and environmentally friendly water power.
But one thing is clear: The most environmentally friendly energy is that which is not used. So energy efficiency measures are at the very top of our agenda. For example, in our offices we have already changed everything to efficient LED lighting. Our logistics centre will follow by the end of 2024.
Even the smallest things can result in big changes. For this reason, we train our employees to save energy at the workplace and we welcome your active participation and every idea for improvements.
Mobility and shipping
Whether it's employees travelling to the office or meeting with suppliers at trade fairs, or parcels being delivered from our logistics centre to customers – in short, mobility is also necessary for Stecker Express. We have made it our goal to make transport and employee mobility as environmentally and climate friendly as possible.
That's why we now rely on DHL GoGreen Plus. Your DHL parcels and packages are shipped sustainably worldwide. Emissions generated during shipping are offset by investments in global climate protection projects. With DHL GoGreen Plus, we ensure that, in addition to the classic emissions offsetting, the focus is on the actual reduction of the carbon footprint, for example through the use of alternative fuels. In this way, we actively contribute to minimising our environmental impact and making our contribution to climate protection.
Packaging and shipping
Nothing moves without packaging: It protects the contents and ensures that nothing is removed from the parcel unnoticed. Despite this, or because of it, the sustainability aspect of packaging is important. If it ends up in the rubbish after its contents are used, it should be as sustainable and recyclable as possible.
Shipping packaging: The type of packaging depends on various components: The product size and quantity, and how to best protect the products.
Shipping packaging comprises solid board and is 100% recyclable. It is used in various sizes as shipping packaging for all products.
Packaging materials / fillers: Shipping packaging certainly protects the contents, but frequently the products do not fill the packaging entirely and a cavity forms. In order to fill this cavity, we use shipping packaging with adjustable dimensions. If there is still a cavity despite this, we use 100% recyclable solid board or 100% recyclable film to cushion the products.
Product packaging: The products needs particular protection against loss, damage and to ensure their longevity. For this reason, all our products are packed securely and durably in their own packaging.
Waste disposal & recovery
Using and disposing of products and packaging responsibly and environmentally friendly over their entire life-cycle and beyond is the basis for environmentally conscious consumption. Sorting waste is an important aspect of this, but transparent waste disposal and recovery are also crucial. Our recycling partner companies therefore use certificates of destruction to confirm that our waste is forwarded to material recycling or energy recovery.

Stecker Express thrives on the ideas, commitment and dedication of its employees. Around 40 employees contribute significantly to the company's success with their diverse talents, ideas and skills. That is why we are committed to numerous measures to ensure a good working atmosphere that is characterised by appreciation, targeted cooperation and respectful interaction. However, our social responsibility does not end at our company boundaries. We are involved in various regional and social projects. In short: commitment to employees and society is an integral part of the Stecker Express corporate culture. Transparency is very important to us.

Combining work and private life: The basis for this is a trusting relationship with our employees and the relationship within the team.
Flexible working hours: Whether mini-job, part-time or full-time - at Stecker Express there are a number of different working time models. Because we know: our employees are in different phases of life and therefore have different needs.
Mobile working: Wherever possible, the following applies: everyone should come to the office once a week, or more often if they want. Mobile working has now become the norm for us – provided the nature of the work allows it. This arrangement makes it easier for parents in particular to reconcile work and family life and enables a healthy work-life balance.
Healthy and safe working: The well-being of our employees is a matter close to our hearts. That is why we actively promote health. In addition to tasty sponsored lunches, snacks and ergonomic, state-of-the-art workplaces, we organise various team events.

Growing and developing together: Through our continuous healthy growth, we find new solutions for the next challenges every day. To this end, we help our employees* to take advantage of the opportunities offered and train them. We want to continue to improve in the future. Our plans in the area of ‘company and employees’:
Company bicycle (Job Bike): Every Stecker Express employee can lease a subsidised company bicycle (Job Bike) at a low cost through deferred compensation and thus cycle to work in an environmentally friendly way - or, of course, privately. This is supported by covered and secure bicycle racks.
Social engagement
As a company, we see ourself as part of society. We are aware of our social responsibility and also want to and also want to fulfil this outside the company boundaries. This is why we are engaged in various regional and social projects.
Social
projects & clubs:
In the region for the region. At our location in the tranquil town of
Kohlstetten (Engstingen district), supporting local clubs such as TSV
Kohlstetten is particularly important to us. But we have also been active in
Reutlingen, our main location, for many years as a supporter of the Hohbuch
Café (school cookery projects "Cooking for others, learning for
yourself") and now also in the Reutlingen Vesperkirche (a meeting place
for "young and old, with thick and thin wallets, lucky and unlucky,
addicted and longing, with or without a fixed abode).
Inclusion:
For more than 20 years we have been working with the youth and disability
support centre of the welfare organisation “Mariaberg e. V”, especially in
their production. Mariaberg is the oldest facility for disabled people in
Germany. Even when it was founded in the 19th century, it had revolutionary
aspirations for the time, going beyond being a mere care centre: Care and
support for the disabled on a medical-scientific basis – with offers of
schooling, employment and housing. Mariaberg offers residential forms of care
for the disabled and young people in the districts of Sigmaringen, Zollernalb,
Alb-Donau, Biberach and Reutlingen in order to enable people with disabilities
to participate in society.
