Amphenol AT series connector SET
Amphenol connectors of the AT series, like other types in the Amphenol A series, are high-power connectors for demanding applications and a wide range of uses. Despite the compact design, currents of 13A per contact with contact size 16 and connection cross-sections of 14-20 AWG can be handled.
A central property of these connectors is their effective protection against environmental influences: When connected, they are all sealed to IP 67. The seals in these connectors are made of temperature-resistant silicone materials, so that the sealing effect is maintained even at higher temperatures. An overview of the product categories of the Amphenol AT series can be found on the chart below.
Characteristics of the Amphenol AT series
The Amphenol AT connector housings are made of durable thermoplastic plastics and have snibs for automatic locking. This locking also guarantees a clear electrical and mechanical connection. The housing plastics used can withstand a high mechanical load and stand out due to excellent UV resistance. With only one exception, all the housings in the Amphenol AT series are rectangular – AT connectors with three contacts are triangular. There is a choice of versions with 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 18 contacts.
The Amphenol connectors of the AT series are a high-power and cost-effective solution which can be used in numerous connection applications. Typical applications for Amphenol connectors from this series are:
- Construction and agricultural machinery
- Trucks and rail vehicles
- Shipbuilding
- Military technology
- Alternative energies
The connectors of the Amphenol AT series are part of the Amphenol A series, as are the ATM series and the ATP series.
Connectors of the Amphenol AT series pass extensive tests
Like all connectors of the A series, these connectors from Amphenol must pass extensive material tests. All connectors of this design, for example, are approved for the temperature range from -55 °C to +125 °C.
This also includes temperature shock resistance: This means that the connectors from Amphenol are tested in alternating cycles between these temperatures and pass this stress test without any complaints. This makes these connectors suitable for refrigerated transport, for example, aviation and industrial process at high temperatures.
In addition, the connectors pass tests with heavy vibrations, multiple drop tests from a height of 750 mm as well as impact with accelerations of up to 50 g in all three axes. The Amphenol AT series connectors withstand all these stresses without any reduction in function.
In everyday life, connectors are rarely exposed to such stresses. The passed material tests guarantee that these connectors have been well prepared for tough conditions. For example, they prove themselves in commercial vehicles and in railway engineering under constant impacts and vibrations. The best and safest way to assemble the connection is with the special crimp tools from Amphenol. They are ideal for the perfect crimping of the machined individual contacts.
