Flexible cable braided sleeve from Flexa
Cable conduit or braided sleeving made of a flexible plastic such as polyadmide, PET or of a resistant metal fabric, is air-permeable and is ideally suited for cable protection as well as for bundling cables. Our guide on the subject of braided sleeves explains the most important properties, differences and typical areas of application of a braided sleeve.
What is a braided sleeve for cables?
A braided sleeve for cables consists preferably of a flexible plastic or metal braiding and has different properties depending on the material.
Compared to a textile made of PET, a braided sleeve for cables consists of thicker fibres, which makes it largely insensitive to mechanical friction. Basically, a cable braided sleeve is also characterised by the fact that it is UV-resistant and prevents temperature build-up in a cable bundle. A braided sleeve made of a metal braid improves cable protection by providing an overall higher abrasion resistance and heat resistance. Furthermore, a braided sleeve for cables made of metal offers optimum shielding against electromagnetic influences.

What are the properties of braided sleeves for cables?
A braided sleeve made of metal is characterised by the fact that it can be compressed to allow cables to be pulled in. This in turn increases the inner diameter. If it is subsequently pulled apart, the braided sleeve lies flush against the cable. In particular, cable braided sleeve made of PET, which is also processed into textile, is often used to bundle cables. But regardless of whether a braided sleeve is made of metal or PET, they are usually air-permeable and allow large bending radii.
What sizes are available for braided sleeves?
Retrofitting cables with a braided sleeve is suitable for cables with a small or large cross-section.
The braided sleeve enables the cables that have been pulled in to be mounted quickly and easily. Another plus point: the cables can also be easily detached from the braided sleeve at any time by compressing the sleeve. This is because if the sleeve is compressed, the inner diameter increases to double or triple its size, depending on the braided sleeve. Before laying the cables, it is therefore important to determine the total cross-section of the cable bundle so that it fits into the respective braided sleeve and the braiding made of polyamide or PET does not lie too tightly against the cables.
We stock braided sleeves for cables from Flexa with an inner diameter of 4.0 mm up to 66.5 mm. Cable braided sleeve from our range is available made to measure. For example, the Flexa PA braided sleeve made of polyamide 6.6 monofilament for which lengths from 1 metre can be ordered.
Among other things, we stock the Flexa PA braided sleeve for cables in black with a nominal diameter of 5.0 from 4.00 mm - 10 mm up to a version with a nominal diameter of 50, with a size of 35.00 mm - 80.00 mm. In addition to cable braided sleeve made of polyamide, we also stock sleeves made of PET in black and grey. These UV-resistant and halogen-free cable braided sleeves are available with nominal diameters from 4.0 to 50.00.
