Multiple sealing inserts for safe and space-saving cable glands
If several cables are to be secured in a single cable gland as a multiple connector, it is recommended that a multiple sealing insert be used. This ensures that the cables sit securely in the connector without rubbing against one another or slipping. The multiple sealing insert also prevents oils and other liquids from penetrating the cable gland and sticking to or damaging the thread. The use of a multiple sealing insert makes optimal use of the space in the control cabinet.
What is a multiple sealing insert used for?
A multiple sealing insert is appropriate whenever several cables are to be connected to the control cabinet or the housing in a single connector. The multiple sealing insert fulfils several functions at once:
- Neat cable routing without twisting
- Protection of the cables against friction
- Secure sealing against the ingress of liquids or foreign bodies
- Increase in the packing density
- Compact design
- Overview in the control cabinet
What sizes and versions are available?
We will provide you with the right multiple sealing insert for your cable gland in a metric version (M) or with a Panzergewinde (PG) thread. Please find the available sizes and the number of holes in the table below. Depending on the version, cable diameters from 1.7 to 9 mm are possible.
Materials for the multiple sealing inserts
Our multiple sealing inserts for metric connectors are made of nitrile rubber (NR). NBR has excellent abrasion properties and is particularly resistant to oil, grease and carbon dioxide. The NBR sealing inserts are suitable for temperatures from -40°C to 100°C and correspond to the protection class IP 54.
The multiple sealing inserts for PG glands are made of silicone and are suitable for temperatures from -50°C to 180°C. They correspond to the protection class IP 54.
For metric cable glands | Number of holes | For PG cable glands | Number of holes |
M16 | 2 | PG7 | 2, 4 |
M20 | 2, 3, 4, 9 | PG9 | 2 |
M25 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 | PG11 | 2, 3 |
M32 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 | PG13.5 | 2, 3 |
M40 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 | PG16 | 2, 3, 4, 5 |
M50 | 6, 7, 8, 14, 16 | PG21 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 |
PG29 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 |
What must be borne in mind when inserting a multiple sealing insert into a cable gland?
The multiple sealing insert is pressed into the connector and seals it tightly without any additional fastening due to the elastic material. We will deliver your multiple sealing insert with exactly the right external diameter for your connector. After the cable has been inserted, there is no movement and therefore no more friction inside the multiple sealing insert. Take note of the mounting direction of the multiple sealing insert if applicable.
