High-quality contact blocks from Schlegel
Apart from models in modular and monoblock design, we also have AS, emergency stop, wireless contact blocks, illuminated models and the matching connectors and module holders. Our assortment of Schlegel contact blocks includes the right model for almost every purpose. Depending on the model, our contact blocks are designed for up to 1 million switching cycles and operating temperatures from -30°C to 70°C.
What is a contact block?
In combination with an actuator such as an emergency stop switch, the contact block forms a function unit that is used to control machinery and devices. Contact blocks also work as pulse generators for connected domestic water meters or to measure flow rates in industrial systems.

How does a contact block work?
In principle, there are two different types of contact block. Switch contact blocks are switched on or off by pressing the associated, locking actuator. Momentary contact blocks are switched on through constant pressure on the actuator. Depending on the requirement, the contact element can fulfil different functions. A distinction is made here between an opening and closing contact element, and a contact block with a change function. One feature of modular contact blocks is that they fulfil multiple functions and can be switched in series.
What areas are contact blocks used in?
Contact blocks are often used in industrial systems and in automotive technology. For example, contact blocks are also used to monitor electrical connections between emergency stop buttons and contact elements. If an emergency stop switch is disconnected from the contact element due to incorrect cabling or as a result of damage, the contact block can disconnect the connected machine from the power supply.
What types of contact blocks are there?
Modular contact blocks: available as illuminated module light element in 5 versions, which are designed for the following voltages: 12-120V AC/DC, 18-30V AC/DC, 18-30V AC/DC (locking), 230V AC, 230V AC (locking). Available alternatively as an illuminated module lamp version of type BA9s, for cables with a cross-section of 2.5mm². We also have modular and illuminated locking elements which are designed for lamp voltage of up to 250V with a maximum power of 2W. To connect an LED ring light, our assortment includes module-connection elements that are designed for a rated voltage of 12V - 30V AC/DC.
Compact contact blocks illuminated/unilluminated: available either illuminated or unilluminated with the following contact types: 1 NC contact, 1 NC contact + 1 NO contact, 1 NC contact + 1 NO contact leading, 2 NC contact, 2 NC contact + 2 NO contact and 4 NC contact or 4 NO contact. Depending on the model, the Schlegel with button or locking function and a button drop of 3.0/6.0mm, 3.0mm and 6.0mm are available.
Emergency stop contact blocks: We offer illuminated and unilluminated emergency stop contact blocks of the series: AZ, BZ_K, D, DS, M, PTF and PTP. Depending on the model, they have a button drop of 3.0/6.0mm, 3.0mm, 5.0mm or 6.0mm and are available with different terminal technologies. Alongside versions with blade terminal connection (2.8mm x 0.8mm), we also sell emergency stop contact blocks with print terminal (solder pins), screw terminal or with screwless spring clamp technology.
Wireless contact blocks: Wireless contact blocks without batteries in three versions: 16mm for buttons and 2-position selector/key-operated lock switches, 22mm for buttons and 2-position selector/key-operated lock switches, 22mm for buttons and 3-position selector/key-operated lock switches.
