Actuator
An actuator is used to convert an electrically available signal into mechanical energy or other physical sizes. It is therefore the counterpart to the sensor, which converts energy into electrical signals. The actual action of the actuator is called actuation. It describes the generation of a movement or deformation. An actuator can, for example, be a valve in a control chain that opens or closes when an electrical signal is applied.
