Flat gasket
In most cases, flat seals are static seals. They are used frequently and for a wide variety of applications. One common application is installation between two flanges. The seal is often inserted into a groove in the flange. In order to achieve a high sealing force, flat gaskets can also be used with modified cross-sections (e.g. diamond-shaped). This allows a higher pressure to be generated locally while maintaining the same pressing pressure and prevents the diffusion of operating fluids.
