Oxygen index
Percentage of oxygen in the ambient air that is necessary to maintain combustion after a flame has been removed. As the natural proportion of oxygen in the air is approx. 23 per cent, substances with an oxygen index greater than 24 will generally extinguish themselves when the flame is removed. This term is particularly common for halogen-free wires and cables. (All data without guarantee)
