Overload currents

Overload currents occur when end devices unexpectedly draw a higher current than the intended rated current. Such situations arise, for example, due to a blocked drive. Temporary starting currents of machines are also overload currents. Although they are generally calculable, they can vary depending on the load on the machine at the moment of starting. These conditions must be taken into account when selecting suitable fuses or circuit breakers for such circuits. A safe switch-off should take place in the seconds to lower minutes range.
