VDE

Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker e.V., VDE Testing and Certification Institute-VDE test centre. (All information without guarantee)

VDE 0100-520

VDE 0100-520: Erection of low voltage installations - Part 5: Selection and erection of electrical equipment - Chapter 52: Cables and wiring systems. (All information without guarantee)

VDE 0295/DIN EN 60 228

VDE 0295/DIN EN 60 228: Conductors for cables and insulated wires. (All data without guarantee)

VDE 0627/DIN EN 62 984

VDE approval for cable glands

Approval is granted after testing in accordance with DIN/EN 50262 and is confirmed by a sign approval certificate. (All information without guarantee)

Vein

Single insulated conductor, e.g. made of solid or stranded copper or aluminium. The core is a conductive component of wires and cables. Their insulation is marked in colour or with numbers. (All information without guarantee)

verdigris

Verdigris is the copper salt of acetic acid (copper acetate). It is soluble in water and only forms when vinegar is brought into contact with copper. Copper acetate is one of the few toxic salts of copper due to its high water solubility. The top layer on copper roofs is patina and not verdigris (all information without guarantee).

ViMf (foursome in metal foil)

Four in metal foil (ViMF) is the German term for an STP cable with two twisted pairs of conductors that are shielded by a metal foil. The type of stranding can be designed as a star quad or as two twisted wire pairs. (All data without guarantee)

Volt

Electrical unit of measurement for voltage. 1 volt is the voltage that causes a current of 1 A in a resistance of 1 ohm. Voltage = resistance x amperage (All data without guarantee)

Voltage detector

The voltage detector can be used to determine the position of a wire or the flow of a current.

Voltage drop

The voltage drop is the potential difference between two points of an electrical conductor. (All data without guarantee)

Vulcanisation

Technological process in which the molecules of the rubber are made to form cross-links by means of temperature, pressure and the use of sulphur compounds, for example. It is only through this process that rubber acquires its permanently elastic properties and becomes industrially usable. (All data without guarantee)
