Han® Ex: Connectors for potentially explosive atmospheres
Han® Ex series connectors are designed to comply with the requirements of the ignition protection class “Intrinsic Safety”. This means the are constructed so that they do not pose a risk for the potentially explosive zones 1 + 2 even in the event of a fault. In intrinsically safe circuits, it is important to limit the energy so that even a spark does not ignite the surroundings. HARTING selected an alloy for Han® Ex hoods and housings, which are very well suited for use in methane-carbon dust atmospheres.
The hoods and housings have a Han® standard format and feature protection class IP65 when connected. The colour blue is the identifying mark for intrinsically safe circuits. The contact inserts offer a high number of pins even in the most confined spaces and still meet all standards of ignition protection type.
Properties:
- Suitable for use in potentially explosive zones 1 and 2 (in methane and carbon-dust atmospheres, amongst others)
- Use only in intrinsically safe circuits
- Easy replacement of electrically powered components in potentially explosive atmospheres
- Inserts for Han® E contacts (6 to 24 pins)
