Cable connectors metal
Metal cable glands made of brass, zinc or stainless steel
Whether seawater-proof, EMC-compatible or specially developed for the hygiene sector - metal cable glands are indispensable in industry and the home for guiding cables into a housing in a tension-proof manner and to protect them from kinking and buckling. Stainless steel, zinc and brass are the preferred materials from which the VDE and DIN-compliant cable glands from WISKA and Lapp are made.
Depending on the area of application and budget, either plastic or metal is chosen. Compared to a cable gland made of polyamide, a cable gland made of a metal such as brass can easily withstand up to 200 degrees.
Types of metal cable glands
Brass cable glands with a nickel-plated surface are often used in EMC applications. They guarantee shielding from electromagnetic influences and ensure a high level of interference resistance for the electrical devices and components used.
Furthermore, there are cable glands made of die-cast zincwhich is resistant to temperature and corrosion as well as being shock-resistant.
Stainless steel cable glands, e.g. from the Lapp SKINTOP INOX series are also resistant to seawater and are used, among other purposes, in bottling plants and breweries, in the mineral oil industry or in the food industry.

Properties of metal cable glands
For housings, wall breakthroughs or massive control cabinets, short threads are usually not sufficient. Metal cable glands, which have a long thread, are the solution to this. In addition to variants with long threads, we also stock split cable glands for mounting pre-assembled cables - retrofitted or for the respective application, for example in measurement and control technology.
What thread sizes are available in SKINTOP glands?
Our range of WISKA and Lapp metal cable glands includes variants made of nickel-plated brass for EMC applications, models made of stainless steel (INOX) for the hygiene and food sectors and other industrial areas. These connectors are available in metric sizes from M12 to M50 and in PG variants from PG7 to PG48.
