Network connectors for industry
A key criterion for applications in the area of industrial production is the ability to control the connection technology on the spot. The cable types used determine the quality and reliability of the data transmission. Network connectors and other detachable connections have a decisive influence on the networks’ vulnerability to faults.
Network connectors have a decisive influence on the networks’ vulnerability to faults. To build up the network, we supply RJ45 and M12 network connectors and the shielded Quintax insert system from Harting.
M12 network connectors
The M12 connector is produced in several types and codings for a variety of uses. For example, the most common codings today are A-coding, B-coding, D-coding and X-coding. The coding ensures that the connectors are used in accordance with their intended purpose.
The connection technologies used in connectors range from a classic screw connection to a crimp connection and a tool-free insulation displacement connection.
Standardised shielded M12 connectors are used in ProfiBus DP and InterBus as a B-coded 5-pin version. In ProfiBus PA, an A-coded 4-pin version is used. The 4-pin D-coded version is used in ProfiNet, Sercos and Ethernet networks, for example. The 8 pin M12 X-coded version with a cross-shaped shield is used in the region of up to 10Gbit/s, Cat.6a.
