R15 circular connector as cable connector

The R15 connector series is equipped with a screw locking system. This type of locking provides maximum connection protection. A distinction is made between cable connectors and panel connectors. These have different characteristics.

The cable connectors are available in metal and plastic and are suitable for R15 contact inserts for metal housings. The pin and socket are available in a straight design. There are two different thread sizes - PG11x1.41 and M16x1.5. With a length of 71.0 mm and a diameter of 28.0 mm, the connectors can be used in a clamping range from 4.0 mm to 10.0 mm. Extremely robust, the circular connectors also withstand the effects of weather such as cold and moisture in a temperature range from -40° to 125°C. Therefore, they also have the IP65 protection class, which distinguishes the properties dust-tight and suitable for jet water.

R15 connectors as panel connectors

Panel connectors are available with straight or angled pin and socket for front wall mounting. The mounting thread in size PG13.5x1.41 is also equipped with a solid screw lock with maximum sealing effect. The material of the seal consists of Perbunan (NBR), a synthetic rubber, which has proven its efficacy thanks to its properties: flexible at low temperatures, resistant to swelling with a high elasticity.

The straight design consists of a pin and socket. The housing is available in die-cast aluminium (Al) - a light metal with an impenetrable oxide layer that makes the housing corrosion-resistant - or polycarbonate (PC), a thermoplastic polymer that is temperature-resistant, impact-resistant and UV-resistant. Suitable for R15 contact inserts for metal housings, the connector complies with protection class IP65 to DIN 40 050 when locked. The connectors can also be used in harsh environments as they can withstand temperatures ranging from -40° C to 125° C.

R15 connector coding for flexible assignment/coding

The coding controls the position in which the connector can be plugged in. This is necessary to prevent mixing up connectors of the same time or to prevent incorrect plugging. The R15 connector is 7-pin and each pin can be individually coded. This enables a coding solution for a wide range of application installations.

Available numbers of pins for R15 connectors

Pins can be used to control a targeted transfer of information or data and signals. For this purpose, the R15 connectors are 7-pin, they have additional non-conductive grooves and pins in addition to the connector contacts. Thus, even complex signal requirements can be reliably controlled. A compact cable can thus be installed that ensures efficient data transmission even in the most confined of spaces.
