RD24 circular connectors
RD24 connectors from Amphenol – reliable machine connector
A circular connector is used in cable assembly to connect devices and device parts to one another in order to make electrically conductive contacts, current and signal lines available for the respective applications. There is a series of factors to be considered when selecting the right connector. In addition to the technical components such as current, number of contacts and voltage values, it is also important to take the local circumstances and installation conditions into account during selection. Different connection technologies as well as design and shape additionally support the choice of the right connector for the different applications. Today, hardly any installation whether in trade or industry in plant, control and electrical device construction, can do without connectors.
Connection technologies of the RD24 circular connectors
The RD24 circular connector from Amphenol is available in three connection technologies, in order to cover all requirements on safe connection.
- RD24 connector with crimp connection: This connection technology is ideal for applications which are subjected to a high tensile load. The mechanical fastening is done by means of a crimp tool. With the appropriate tool, this fastening can also be loosened again. Applications include plant and machine construction, the infrastructure in IT and network environments.
- RD24 connector with screw connection: With the help of screw terminals, the connector RD24 can be used to quickly and efficiently connect to the cables that transmit power or signals, depending on the application. The integrated screw lock, which reliably connects connector and socket, prevents these cable connections from coming loose.
- RD24 connector with solder connection: The solder connection is used for special applications. It thus secures the connection of signal connectors or boards.
RD24 cable connectors and device connectors
The Amphenol cable and device connectors RD24 with crimp, screw and solder connection technologies are available in different designs and shapes. Both pin and socket are available in straight and angled designs, for example. The rated voltage or rated current for crimp and screw connection is at 250V – 14A and can be used in the temperature range from -40° C to 125° C, with solder connection at 400V – 22A in the range from -40° C to 100° C.
The connectors made of robust polyamide (PA) have been designed for 500 plugging cycles each, the solder connection also has a strain relief with clamping cage. All variants comply with the fire behaviour standard according to UL: V0 according to UL94.
Flexible assignment/coding for RD24 connectors
The RD24 connector coding controls the position in which the connector can be plugged in. This is necessary to prevent mixing up connectors of the same time or to prevent incorrect plugging. Both the RD24 4-pin circular connectors and the RD24 7-pin connectors and each pin can be coded individually. This makes an RD24 connectors possible for a wide range of application installations.
Available numbers of pins for RD24 connectors
The individual pins are used to specifically control the transfer of data, information and signals. The RD24 connectors manufactured by Amphenol are equipped with 4 pins (3+PE) and 7 pins (6+PE) and enable the precise control of complex requirements on signals and data. Thanks to the compact dimensions, safe data transmission is guarantee even where space is tight.
