Signal towers
What is a signal tower and where is it used?
Signal towers have a high in signal technology and are therefore widespread. For example, on machines or systems they indicate when a defined process has ended or if there is a fault. The employees are therefore immediately informed and can react correspondingly. They typically consist of individual colour modules, mostly red, yellow and green like a set of traffic lights.
Signal towers are frequently used in the areas of maintenance, mechanical engineering, automation technology or electrical engineering. But they are also used in supermarkets or in logistics. As a result of the intensive brightness of the large modules, the signal can also be seen from a greater distance and be reacted to quickly. For different meanings can e assigned to the up to 5 different colours (red, yellow, green, white and blue) of a signal tower. Thus the red signal can traditionally stand for a warning or fault, whereas the green signal indicates that everything is in order. Signal towers therefore act as an optical signal for monitoring processes or machines. However, this does not have to be the case, as the signal modules can be assembled as required and customised individually to the respective requirement.
Especially for automated processes on machines, this signal technology can monitor complex processes and serve as a warning system if there are malfunctions. In addition, waiting times or shutdowns can be reduced as a result of the quick reaction to an illuminated signal. So that the responsible persons know straight away what status is involved, the signals are settable in different colours. Like a traffic light, red means – attention, quick action necessary.

How are signal towers assembled?
There is a large number of possibilities for assembling signal tower. Where the lights are situation changes from company to company. While these are fastened directly to the machine in some companies, in others installation on the wall or ceiling is necessary. In order to guarantee the use of the module lights for every application, they are therefore available with different fastening options. Alongside a wall mounted socket, wall mounted terminal or wall mounted holder, there is also an adjustable wall mounted holder and extensions that can be adjusted to the configured product.
In order to prevent confusion, it is recommended that the individual light modules are labelled visibly and clearly. There are suitable labelling signs for this. In this way, every employee, even a new one, knows at first glance what has to be done if one of the lights on signal towers and signal lights is activated. Apart from the visual signals, a flash function or continuous light can be activated. If the light is not currently in view for the responsible employee, a buzzer can be used as an acoustic aid as support.
What colours are there on signal towers and what do they mean?
The signal towers are available in different colours. Green can stand for “Machine running”"", yellow for “Refilling” and red for “Fault”. However, there is no defined requirement or standard. It is recommended that the colours are specified in the same was a traffic lights, for example. Therefore, on a red, yellow and green signal tower the red light should stand for “Stop” and the green light for “Running”.
Are there any additional signals for signal towers?
Yes. A buzzers(also called an acoustic signalling device) is also available for the signal towers. It can be used alone or in combination with the coloured signals in a signal tower. The integrated 90dB signal serves as an extra, acoustic warning signal.

What protection class of signal towers are there?
Signal towers are available in different protection classes. You will find signal towers here for industry with protection class IP 65. These are protected both against dust against water jets from any direction.
The chart shows an overview of our signal towers and how the modular system can be assembled. Additionally, you can see which holders (wall holder or floor holder) go with which tower or light.
