Spiral cable protection - the flexible all-rounder
A spiral cable protection provides reliable protection for wires and cables to be laid against external influences, high mechanical loads, thermal and environmental influences as well as chemical influences. The different types and their optimum product properties are tailored to the respective installations so that the flexible spiral conduit meets the highest technical requirements and can be used effectively as reliable cable protection in many industries.
This special cable protection is available in the following versions, depending on requirements:
- The AIRflex-KUW-PU-AS with spring steel wire and PUR sheathing
- The AIRflex-KUW-PVC-AS with spring steel wire and PVD sheathing.
Both variants impress with their tube structure, which includes a plastic-sheathed spring steel wire which is fixed to the sheathing on the inside of the spirally wound plastic conduit. Due to the high toughness and abrasion resistance, the spiral conduit shows excellent behaviour at low temperatures.

Areas of application for the spiral conduit
The plastic spiral conduit is optimally suited as a protective tube in plant or mechanical engineering due to its flexibility and high protection factor. It has a high resistance to bending fatigue due to the bending radius. This enables flexible use of the electrical conduit. It is also largely acid-resistant as well as solvent-resistant, silicone- and cadmium-free. The spiral conduit cable thus offers versatile protection against external influences. Since it is oil-resistant, grease-resistant and petrol-resistant, it can be used for maximum protection of wires and cables in vehicle construction and in shipbuilding in particular.
Through its halogen-free and flame-retardant fire behaviour and temperature resistance – depending on design – from -25°C to 100°C, for short periods even of up to 120°C, the spiral cable protection is a reliable cable and wire protection even under demanding influences. With its liquid- and air-tight properties, it is particularly suitable for use in climatically demanding environments. It is expandable and compressible and can therefore be easily incorporated in installations.
Thanks to its high flexibility, the spiral cable protection can be used in almost all industries. It offers reliable protection in automation, plant and mechanical engineering and in electronics installations as well as in vehicle construction or shipbuilding, where special protection against changing weather conditions is required.
