Cable connectors stainless steel
Corrosion-resistant stainless steel cable glands
Stainless steel cable glands from WISKA and Lapp are suitable for a wide range of applications. They are resistant to external influences, are robust and maintenance-free and withstand the tough conditions in the maritime sector. Thanks to an effective sealing concept, they are used in plant construction, food technology, as well as in the automotive industry and hygiene technology sector. Stainless steel cable glands are available with threads for metric and PG glands.
What is a stainless steel cable gland?
A stainless steel cable gland usually consists of a clamping part with a seal and union nuts for fastening to a housing, a control cabinet or electrical system.
The stainless steel cable gland is available with a smooth surface as well as brushed and is certified up to protection class IP69. A Lapp stainless steel cable gland is characterised by a smooth surface which also makes it suitable for hygiene-critical areas.
To ensure high corrosion resistance to solutions containing chloride and salt water, cable gland is often made of V4A stainless steel with a 2% molybdenum content. In addition to Lapp cable glands, there are also stainless steel cable glands from WISKA, which ensure effective tension relief and that the edge of the cable is protected reliably when it enters the housing.

Properties of stainless steel cable glands
Depending on the area of application, cable glands that are routed into a housing must prevent the ingress of dust and water. For example, stainless steel cable gland, which is certified to IP68 and is therefore dust-proof and protected against permanent submersion. In addition to stainless steel cable gland to IP68, there are also variants that are waterproof to IP67 (protection against temporary submersion)
Types of stainless steel cable glands
Stainless steel cable glands with EMC suitability protect electrical devices from electromagnetic interference. Furthermore, stainless steel cable glands are also available in different designs, e.g. with a 90° angle which allows cables to be outlet in all directions without kinking or buckling.
For areas with increased explosion protection, stainless steel cable gland which complies with the ATEX EU Directive 2014/34/EU is suitable. In this way, stainless steel Ex cable gland counteracts, among other things, sparking or arcing.
What thread sizes are available for stainless steel connectors?
We offer metric cable glands made of stainless steel in the following sizes:
- M8 stainless steel cable gland
- M12 stainless steel cable gland
- M16 stainless steel cable gland
- M20 stainless steel cable gland
- M25 stainless steel cable gland
- M40 stainless steel cable gland
- M63 stainless steel cable gland
- M75 stainless steel cable gland
Are stainless steel cable glands also available with armoured thread?
The formerly common cable glands with armoured thread are still used, predominantly in German-speaking countries. They are now only permitted in exceptional cases and are increasingly being replaced by metric connectors (DIN EN 60423).
PG glands made of stainless steel and their respective equivalents in metric sizes at a glance:
- PG7 stainless steel cable gland, corresponds to M12 x 1.5
- PG9 stainless steel cable gland, corresponds to M16 x 1.5
- PG11 stainless steel cable gland, corresponds to M20 x 1.5
- PG16 stainless steel cable gland, corresponds to M25 x 1.5
- PG21 stainless steel cable gland, corresponds to M32 x 1.5
- PG36 stainless steel cable gland, corresponds to M40 x 1.5

Accessories for stainless steel cable glands
In addition to stainless steel cable glands with a reduction from M20 to M16 or M16 to M12, our range also includes self-sealing blanking plugs in metric sizes up to 100M. We also stock sealing plugs made of elastic plastic with a clamping range from 4 to 22 mm. To prevent cable glands from unscrewing, our extensive locking nut range includes metric and imperial lock nuts made of metal or plastic, which can be ordered to match the respective cable gland.
