LiYCY data cable - Effective data transmission
The reliable LiYCY electronics cable is used for installations that require effective and secure transmission of data or electricity. Thanks to its copper shielding, the data cable transmits the signals without interference. This is primarily required in electronics, control systems or security and network technology. However, the LiYCY wires are also used for connecting parallel or serial interfaces, such as printers or other PC accessories.

Product properties and definition of the product designation LiYCY
The peak operating voltage is 350V; the core-core test voltage is 1200V and the core-shield test voltage is 800V; however, the cable is not suitable for high voltage applications. In terms of fire behaviour, the cables have self-extinguishing and flame-retardant properties according to IEC 60332-1-2. Due to its largely oil and chemical resistance, the installation is particularly suitable for use in dry, damp and wet rooms, but not outdoors.
The letters and numbers printed on the cable provide information about the respective type of construction and designated use. This is used to find the right cable for the various applications. The designation LiYCY 4x0.25 is explained in this example. However, the same also applies for all other types; for example, the LiYCY 2x0.75 wire.

LiYCY - The robust sensor cable
The construction of the LiYCY data line is robust and the materials used in it are resistant, so it can be installed in many applications. LiYCY cables are constructed of fine strands of bare copper wire, which comply with Class 5 conductor construction according to VDE 0295. For clear assignment during installation, the cores, with optimal lay lengths twisted in layers, comply with the DIN EN 47100 colour code (1=white, 2= brown, 3= green, 4= yellow).
The cores are also approx. 85 % covered by a shielding braid made of tinned copper wires and have a film wrapping. The drain wire is tin-plated copper.
The core insulation and outer jacket are made of the thermoplastic material polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which gives the data cable the necessary durability. The minimum bending radius of 15.0 times the outer diameter in installations that move on occasion allows for use in temperatures from -5°C to 70°C, and the minimum bending radius of 6.0 times the outer diameter in fixed installations permits a temperature range from -30°C to 80°C.
Application range of shielded LiYCY data lines
The range of applications is diverse; for example, in plant and machine manufacturing for sensitive computing systems, for office machines and switch cabinets, in tool manufacturing and in regulation technology, whereby the single core ensures electromagnetic compatibility. The cable also provides a secure connection for wiring measuring equipment, electrical components and transmitting and receiving installations.
