The PVC data line LiYY – the classic solution for versatile use
The LiYY PVC data cable from Lapp is used in many industries and for versatile areas of application: wherever a safe and interference-free transmission of signals and data is necessary. The data line works as a reliable bridge between the actuator and the switch actuated to operate plants and machinery. The suitable cable ensures optimum transmission of this data. Smooth data transmission is guaranteed if the general conditions and influences of the surroundings have been clarified in advance. These include the prevailing temperature conditions that the cable can withstand, for example, or chemical and mechanical influences. Detailed information about structure and composition is provided by the respective cable through the letters and numbers printed on it. Installation of the right data cable ensures permanent data transmission and ensures a smooth working process.
High-quality structure of the LiYY cable
Four versions of the data cable, which differ in terms of the number of cores and cross-section, guarantee an optimum connection for a wide range of different installations thanks to their robust structure. The fine-wired strand made up of bare copper wires complies with conductor structure according to VDE Class 5. Core insulation and outer sheathing are made of thermoplastic PVC and have a low outer diameter despite the large number of cores. This makes it possible to lay wires with the smallest possible diameter and saves space where building-related or construction measures make this necessary. To achieve clear assignment, the cores twisted in layers with optimum lengths of lay correspond to the colour code DIN EN 47100 (1=white, 2=brown, 3=brown, 4=yellow). With a minimum bending radius of 10.0 x outer diameter moved, the cable can be laid in a temperature range from -5°C to 70°C and 4.0 x outer diameter fixed at temperatures from -40°C to 80°C.

What does LiYY stand for?
With a working peak voltage of 500 V and a test voltage of 1200 V the data cable is not suitable for heavy current purposes. In terms of fire behaviour, they have self-extinguishing and flame-retardant properties in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2. With the product features of extensive oil resistance and chemical resistance, the cables can be optimally laid for installation in dry, damp and wet rooms, but not outdoors.
The letters and numbers printed on the cable provide information about the type and the purpose of application. This can be used to determine the suitable cable for the different applications.

Areas of application for the LiYY data cable
The area of use covers flexible applications without forced routing and without tensile load, but not for energy management systems.
