Ölflex Classic 100 – A classic industrial cable
The Ölflex Classic 100 is a popular connection and control cable from Lapp Kabel. Due to its combination of robustness, versatility and low cost, it has become standard in many industries. It is usually used for connecting industrial machines and appliances. The Ölflex Classic 100 can also be used in power plants and in heating and air-conditioning applications. The wire can be used in dry spaces and in humid or wet environments. For installation outdoors, the cables are suitable to a limited extent – this requires UV protection and compliance with the permissible temperature range.
When in a fixed installation, the temperature range extends from -40°C to +80°C. When there is occasional movement, a range of only -5°C to +70°C is permitted. The cable is resistant to grease and certain oils. Therefore, the cable is suitable for environments where such contaminations can occur.

Properties - Suitable for voltages of up to 450/750V
With its various conductor cross-sections, the Ölflex Classic 100 covers a majority of the common rated voltages. With cross-sections of 0.5 mm2 to 1.5 mm2, the Ölflex cable is suitable for voltages of up to 300/500V. For cross-sections above 2.5 mm2, 450/750V are permitted. The test voltage of the Ölflex Classic 100 reaches up to 4000V. Due to this high value, the cable provides a good level of electrical safety. The permissible bending radius depends on the type of installation and use. For a fixed cable installation, this may be 4 times the outer diameter. If there is occasional movement, the minimum bend radius is 15 times the outer diameter.
Colour codes according to VDE and company standard
The core insulation and jackets of all Ölflex Classic 100 cables are made of PVC. The conductor itself is made of finely-stranded copper wire. The cores are twisted in layers, whereby the core stranding in a short lay lengths allows a high degree of cable flexibility. The cores of all Lapp Ölflex Classic 100 cables are colour coded. In contrast to the similar Ölflex Classic 110, the cores of the Lapp Ölflex Classic 100 are identified by colour.
For variants with up to 5 cores, Lapp uses the colours of VDE 2093-308/HD 308 S2. These cables use the standard colour code with the colours blue, brown, black and grey, and green-yellow as the protective conductor. For wires with more than 5 cores, no colour codes are defined according to this standard. Lapp fills this gap with its own colour code system. The colour code system developed by Lapp for Ölflex wires also enables the colour identification of multi-core cables. The manufacturer uses up to 12 basic colours for this system.
Overview of all ÖLFLEX cables
ÖLFLEX series | Jacket | Properties | Available number of cores |
ÖLFLEX Classic 100 | PVC | Colour-coded standard cable 300/500V or 450/750V. Cores are colour-coded. | 2-5 |
ÖLFLEX Classic 110 | PVC | standard cable& absolute classic in the area of Ölflex control cables. The cores are labelled with numbers and not by colour. | 2-100 |
ÖLFLEX Classic 110 Black | PVC | Black sheath and good suitability for outside use (UV and weatherproof). | 1-50 |
ÖLFLEX Classic 400 P | PUR | Proven cable thanks to its excellent resistance capabilities, both mechanically and chemically. | 2-42 |
ÖLFLEX Classic 115 CY | PVC / sheathed | By omitting a PVC inner sheath, the cables are lighter and thinner than normal wires. | 2-34 |
ÖLFLEX FD 90 | PVC / cable-track capable | Single code sheathed cable. Highly flexible. | 1 |
ÖLFLEX Classic FD 810 | PVC / cable-track capable | Suitable for moderate to increased travel or accelerations as a result of good properties in terms of dynamism. | 2-65 |
ÖLFLEX FD 855 CP | PUR / shielded | EMC-suitable and less liable to interference from the environment thanks to copper shielding. | 2-36 |
ÖLFLEX FD 855 P | PUR / cable-track capable | Suitable for installation in energy chains that work in harsh industrial environments, as the cable is very elastic (no shielding). | 2-41 |
ÖLFLEX Control TM | PVC | Characterised by increased torsion resistance. Best solution for mechanical engineers who need wires with certifications in accordance with US standards. | 3-25 |
