NSSHÖU rubber-sheathed cable – ideal for high mechanical loads
A rubber-sheathed cable is a flexible wire, which after the installation of moving devices and machinery under slight, moderate or heavy mechanical loads is responsible for a safe and reliable power supply. The NSSHÖU cable has been specifically designed for heavy-duty devices that are exposed to high mechanical loads. The cables are therefore suitable above all for mining or the construction industry. The signal colour yellow ensures very good visibility of the installed cable. Versions of the cable are available with different conductor cross-sections and outer diameters, so the respective matching product can be selected for the various uses. The NSSHÖU rubber cable from Lapp has VDE 0250-812 design certification.
Reliable thanks to its impressive product qualities – NSSHÖU-J
The structure of the tear-proof NSSHÖU rubber-sheathed cable is made from fine-core threads of tin-plated copper wires corresponding to VDE 0295, class 5. The rubber mix of the core insulation corresponds to type 3GI3. Both the inner jacket and the outer jacket are in the signal colour yellow and comprise a type 5GM5 rubber mix. With regard to fire behaviour, the cable is flame-resistant in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2 and self-extinguishing. The durability of the abrasion-resistant cable is also seen in the oil-resistance according to EN 60811-404 and the high tear resistance. Thanks to the thermal properties such as UV resistance, ozone resistance and weather-resistance, the cable withstands harsh environments and can be installed outside without concerns. In addition, it is chemical and coolant-resistant and largely acid-resistant as well as protected against high-molecular oils and hydraulic oils. The good heat pressure resistance allows installation in a temperature range moved from -20° C to 80° C. While cable type NSSHÖU-J has a 3-12 core structure and a cross-section of 1.5 – 10 mm2, cable type NSSHÖU-O has a single core construction with considerably larger cross-sections of 16 – 95 mm2 and can be used specifically as a robust connection for welding equipment.
Product designation cable yellow NSSHÖU
The product designation consists of letters, provides information about the properties and cable materials used. The NSSHÖU cable can be interpreted as follows:
- N – Standardised wire in accordance with VDE 0280 T.602
- S – Cord and material of the outer jacket canvas
- S – Rubber sheath as outer jacket and core insulation
- H – Core / core wire
- Ö – Oil-resistant
- U – non-flammable/flame-retardant according to VDE 04822-332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1-2
- J – with internationally labelled green-yellow protective conductor
- O – no green-yellow protective conductor
Safe applications and areas of use
The mechanically robust rubber cable is designed for very high loads and had a long service life. With a high insulation resistance, it is suitable for permanent installation on plaster, in dry, damp or wet spaces and also outside. The NSSHÖU-J cable can be installed without concerns in harsh environments, e.g. in mining, open-cast mining or quarries, but also offers a reliable connection in switch cabinets and for machine tools.
